Parent resources

  • Glenview Advisory Board and volunteer opportunities

The Glenview Blades Parent Advisory Board supports the Glenview Blades by offering fundraising events, social activities, on-site competition support and parent communications.

Board member positions are voluntary and are announced at the beginning of each season. There also are volunteer opportunities for non-board member parents throughout the season.

  • Blades apparel

The Blades' Spiritwear Store offers great apparel such as sweatshirts, coats, pj bottoms and hats. It’s open all year long to skaters and their families and ships directly to your home.

  • Glenview Blades Resale Shop

This private, parent-led Facebook page allows Blades parents to buy/sell previously owned Glenview Blades attire and other used skating items. Please note: the Glenview Park District does not own and therefore is not responsible for any activity on the page.

  • Moves in the Field

Moves in the Field (MIF) is a series of USFS-sanctioned skating tests performed solo in front of USFS judges. Each level requires the skater to learn a pattern of turns, edges, spirals and steps. These levels get progressively more difficult as the skater moves up in levels and requires a private coach to move him/her through each level.

Passing these levels are required in order to complete in synchronized skating. Go to the “Our teams” section to learn what level your skater needs.

For the Blades, it is highly recommended that skaters start working on their MIF starting in the Pre-Freeskate or Bronze level.

  • TeamSnap

The TeamSnap app is the Blades main form of communication between coaches and parents. TeamSnap provides information such as practice ice times, competition itineraries and social events. Its “chat” feature is also a great way for parents to communicate with one another.
